The National Bank of Georgia reported the results of an international fintech hackathon jointly organized with Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) during the Tbilisi Financial Summit. Goni won the artificial intelligence (AI) category, securing a GEL 20,000 GITA prize to develop its prototype. Faeda AI won the open banking application programming interface (API) diagnostics and benchmarking category. Goni will attend GITEX Global 2026 in Dubai with support from Tether and Pave Bank, while Faeda AI secured a trip to Singapore FinTech Festival 2026 to present its project. The hackathon focused on practical financial sector applications, including credit risk assessment, fraud detection and operational improvements. Speaking at the demo day, National Bank of Georgia Governor Natia Turnava discussed how secure access to financial data with customer consent can support competition and new services, while AI can improve information processing and risk assessment. She also emphasized that regulators should develop their own technological knowledge and practical experience. The event’s focus on developing fintech products aligns with the bank’s broader vision for the sector, set out in the FinTech Development Strategy prepared with the World Bank and presented in June 2025.
