Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) is coordinating damage assessments and claims settlement following floods and landslides in Phuket on Oct. 26, 2026. Officials inspected affected properties and a disaster assistance registration point in Patong on Oct. 29 to review registration obstacles and claims handling. Phuket had recorded 181 catastrophe insurance claims as of that date. The response operates under the existing national catastrophe insurance scheme, which has already provided initial flood compensation payments in Lamphun. Existing flood compensation rules provide for an initial THB 10,000 payment for damaged homes within 15 days once policy criteria are met and complete supporting documents are received. Additional compensation based on actual damage is capped at THB 90,000 and payable within 15 days of receipt of complete supporting documents. Total coverage is limited to THB 100,000 per home per event, subject to policy conditions. Insurers are verifying damage information and evidence, while the OIC is also coordinating claims under other insurance policies where these provide additional coverage for losses above the national policy’s limit.
