The Central Bank of Barbados has partnered with The Salvation Army Barbados to offer donations through BiMPay for the organisation’s 2026 Christmas Kettle Appeal. The initiative uses the national instant payment system’s QR code capability for charitable giving, providing an alternative to cash. Donation codes will appear on Salvation Army signboards at more than 40 locations across Barbados and on appeal letters sent by post. Individuals can donate free of charge by scanning a code with the BiMPay Wallet, entering an amount and confirming payment. The wallet displays the recipient’s name before authorisation so donors can verify that they are paying The Salvation Army. The central bank is also contributing BBD 20,000 to the appeal, which helps fund feeding programmes, Meals-on-Wheels and food hampers for vulnerable individuals and families.
