The Central Bank of Taiwan published its May 2026 liquid reserve data, showing that liabilities subject to liquid reserve requirements totaled TWD 53,613.3 billion. Applying the statutory minimum liquid reserve ratio of 10%, required liquid reserves were TWD 5,361.3 billion, while actual liquid reserve assets reached TWD 13,569.1 billion. Actual liquid reserve assets increased by TWD 291.7 billion from the previous month. The largest components were certificates of deposit issued by the central bank at TWD 5,714.3 billion, or 42.11% of the total, government bonds at TWD 2,359.3 billion, or 17.39%, and re-deposits at designated banks by financial institutions at TWD 1,070.9 billion, or 7.89%. Against this backdrop, the actual liquid reserve ratio of financial institutions rose by 0.19 percentage points from the previous month to 25.31%.
