The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published consumer guidance warning that personal data loss can enable unlawful third-party use, including schemes such as phishing aimed at accessing bank accounts and sensitive information. The guidance recommends basic “digital hygiene” steps, including not sending copies of identity documents and not disclosing full bank card details (especially the CVV), SMS codes or passwords; avoiding suspicious links; and not installing unlicensed applications from unverified sources. It also advises keeping devices checked and updated (including antivirus), deleting spam and suspicious messages, blocking unnecessary senders, clearing cache, opting out of unnecessary mailings and services, using different passwords for different accounts and making passwords at least 10 characters with mixed case letters, numbers and special characters, avoiding internet banking over public Wi‑Fi, and never sharing personal data with unknown individuals even if they claim to represent banks, social services or law enforcement.
