Japan’s Financial Services Agency has published an overview of a public-private, cross-industry initiative on phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA) and phishing awareness, alongside work to revise its supervisory and administrative guidelines to include the introduction of phishing-resistant MFA in response to rising illegal remittances and transactions linked to phishing that deceives financial institutions. The awareness content was developed jointly by banks, credit unions, labour banks, securities companies, the Financial Services Agency, and the National Police Agency. It includes five promotional flyers explaining phishing-resistant MFA and warning about phishing emails, plus four promotional videos covering the same topics in drama and manga formats.
