The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) announced that the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions has joined the IAIS Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMoU), enabling participation in the international framework for supervisory cooperation and information exchange. The MMoU sets out compliance and confidentiality conditions intended to support open cooperation among insurance supervisors, including the ability for signatories to share relevant information and assist one another in supervising cross-border insurance operations. Admission requires applicants to undergo an independent IAIS assessment of their professional secrecy regimes. IAIS noted that membership has expanded since the first admission in June 2009 and now covers jurisdictions representing around three-quarters of global gross written premiums.
