The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has published its first “Asking Better Questions on Nature” guide, aimed at helping board directors and other senior leaders draw out decision-useful insight on nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities. Produced with Chapter Zero, Competent Boards, the Commonwealth Climate and Law Initiative and the Green Finance Institute, the guide is positioned as a practical tool to support integration of nature-related considerations into governance, strategy, risk management and capital allocation. The publication sets out 12 questions board directors may ask management and describes the type of analysis boards should expect to inform board discussions, drawing on input from experienced executive and non-executive directors already considering climate- and nature-related issues. The guide was launched in Singapore during Ecosperity in a session held with the Singapore Institute of Directors; TNFD also pointed to more than 500 organisations representing over USD 17 trillion in assets under management that are underway with voluntary assessment and reporting aligned to TNFD recommendations. TNFD described this release as the first in a series, with additional guides for other audiences to be issued with other partners over the next 12 months.
