The Bank of Italy published a new package of economic research, releasing Working Papers Nos. 1514 to 1519 and the latest issue of its Newsletter on economic research (No. 81). The new papers span banking, macroprudential policy, corporate governance and wider macroeconomic topics. The working papers cover climate information and banking policies and the risk of “greenwashing” using web-scraping and text analysis (No. 1514); the effectiveness of the Bank of Italy’s worker selection exams, including gender discrimination and efficiency (No. 1515); identification of oil-market expectational shocks using OPEC announcements (No. 1516); the impact of statutory auditors on Italian firms, including regulatory costs and corporate governance effects (No. 1517); interactions between risky firms and fragile banks and implications for macroprudential tools such as capital buffers (No. 1518); and the effects of high-speed rail connections on student mobility, human capital and regional inequality (No. 1519).
