Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) has inaugurated a new provincial office in Manokwari for Papua Barat and Papua Barat Daya, aimed at bringing supervisory and consumer protection services closer to local communities while supporting financial literacy and financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and other productive sectors. Led by Budi Rahman, the office will oversee financial sector supervision and development across Kota Sorong and 12 regencies in the two provinces, with the stated objective of improving coordination with local governments, businesses and other stakeholders and strengthening public confidence in financial institutions. As of November 2025, OJK recorded 178 conventional commercial bank branches and six Bank Perekonomian Rakyat, alongside 74 non-bank financial services office networks comprising 18 in capital markets and 56 across insurance, pawnshops and Permodalan Nasional Madani.
