The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) convened a conference on the Vietnam National Credit Information Center (CIC) development project through 2025 with an orientation to 2030, reviewing 2025 credit information activities and setting direction for the next stage. SBV Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dung highlighted progress in establishing and operating the credit information system and outlined priorities to modernise CIC’s infrastructure and data capabilities. Over 2022-2025, CIC built a credit database of 55.2 million customer records covering more than 70% of the adult population, with stable growth of 10-15% per year, and has supported SBV’s direction, administration, inspection and supervision while also developing services to support autonomy. CIC reported completing all tasks assigned by SBV, including tasks under the banking sector implementation plan for Resolution 57, verification of borrower dossiers under Scheme 06, and synchronising the credit information database to the National Data Center in line with Government Resolution 71/NQ-CP. SBV also noted that most credit institutions comply with credit information reporting requirements and were urged to continue strict implementation of Circular 15/2023/TT-NHNN and related rules. Looking ahead, the priorities set for CIC include building an open, multi-source data ecosystem, improving data quality from credit institutions, expanding non-traditional data collection from ministries, sectors, utility providers and voluntary participants, and renovating credit information activities using modern technology. The upgrade agenda is to be paired with stronger network security and information safety, including cooperation with credit institutions on connection security.
