Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance announced that Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis will travel to Copenhagen to take part in the informal Eurogroup and Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) meetings, including chairing a ministers’ discussion on innovation and digitalisation focused on structural reforms to boost productivity and competitiveness in Europe. Within the Eurogroup, ministers are set to consider next steps for adopting the digital euro, review recent economic developments, exchange views with the chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, and plan the Eurogroup’s work programme through June 2026. At an ECOFIN working lunch on the complexity of EU legislation, ministers will look for ways to make regulation more efficient and less costly for businesses and public finances, before discussing simplification of the European financial framework with central bank governors and reviewing conclusions from a Bruegel study on geopolitical developments and their economic impacts on Europe. On the margins of the meetings, the minister will also visit United Nations offices and UNICEF’s International Supply Chain Centre in Copenhagen and hold bilateral meetings with European officials and counterparts.
