The engagement includes discussions with IMF and World Bank counterparts on Nicaragua’s work agenda for the year and on regional and global economic and policy issues. During the meetings, Reyes met with the IMF Mission Chief for Nicaragua, Alina Carare, and other IMF officials to discuss the 2025 work plan. Alongside Nicaragua’s Minister of Finance, Bruno Gallardo, he also attended a meeting of the IMF constituency represented by Brazil on the IMF Executive Board, where participating central bank governors and finance ministers reviewed current global economic topics and the IMF’s work agenda, and met with the World Bank Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, Carlos Felipe Jaramillo. Reyes further joined an IMF Western Hemisphere Department meeting with central bank presidents and finance ministers from Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic focused on regional outlook and policy priorities, and a separate meeting of Western Hemisphere authorities with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on global economic prospects, the regional context and key policy challenges. The Central Bank indicated that Reyes will hold a bilateral meeting with IMF officials including André Roncaglia, Rodrigo Valdés, Ana Corbacho, Alina Carare and Gerardo Peraza to discuss Nicaragua’s economic situation and outlook and the remaining 2025 agenda with the IMF.
