The Japan Financial Services Agency has published a partially revised version of its case collection on verifying the effectiveness of anti-money laundering (AML) measures, intended to support “effectiveness verification” by financial institutions as they maintain and enhance their AML management frameworks in response to evolving risks. The revised compilation updates the case examples originally published alongside the FSA’s “Summary of Discussion Points and Practices for Dialogue on the Verification of the Effectiveness of Measures for Money Laundering,” incorporating cases identified through the FSA’s monitoring and other activities. The update reflects examples involving deposit-taking financial institutions, crypto-asset exchange companies and fund transfer companies, among others. The FSA indicated it will continue to promote effectiveness verification by adding further cases to the collection as appropriate based on ongoing monitoring and related activities.
