Luxembourg’s Ministry of Finance published a communiqué on Finance Minister Gilles Roth’s participation in the Eurogroup and Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) meetings in Brussels on 12 and 13 November 2025, highlighting the main policy discussions and noting that finance ministers approved amendments to several national recovery and resilience plans, including Luxembourg’s. In the Eurogroup, ministers reviewed recent macroeconomic developments and discussed euro area competitiveness and innovation, followed by an exchange on policy priorities ahead of the 2026 recommendations for euro area economic policy. They also discussed recent Banking Union developments with representatives of the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the Single Resolution Board, and concluded with a debate on the future of digital finance. At ECOFIN, ministers continued discussions linked to the war against Ukraine and international developments on Pillar 2, heard annual reports from Commissioners Albuquerque and Dombrovskis on progress in administrative simplification, and held an exchange on free trade with counterparts from the European Free Trade Association member states. Alongside the meetings, Roth held a bilateral meeting with European Commissioner for Financial Services Maria Luís Albuquerque and reaffirmed Luxembourg’s position on the architecture of supervision in Europe.
