The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia held a working meeting with staff from the Akhmeta Municipality Mayor’s Office focused on explaining the supervisor’s mandate and the mechanisms available to protect insurance consumers, alongside a discussion of issues affecting agroinsurance products. The session was opened by the Service’s Head of Legal Department, Nino Niavadze, and Akhmeta Mayor Aleksi Fitskhelauri and was run in an interactive format. A presentation by Kesaria Abkhazava from the Consumer Rights Protection and Financial Education Division covered the Service’s functions, what rights consumers have at each stage of dealing with an insurance company, what to review before signing a contract and after it enters into force, and what legal tools are available to defend rights in the event of violations. Participants also discussed challenges in the agroinsurance product and possible solutions, with the stated aim of strengthening communication and raising public awareness of insurance relationships and consumer protection mechanisms.
