Ghana's National Insurance Commission (NIC) has supported the launch of the Insurance Retirees Forum of Ghana (IRFG), framing the initiative as a way to preserve institutional memory, reinforce ethics and professionalism, and leverage veteran practitioners’ expertise to strengthen the insurance sector. In keynote remarks, Acting Commissioner of Insurance Dr. Abiba Zakariah announced plans to establish a structured platform to harness retirees’ knowledge, integrate them into strategic planning processes, and ensure their expertise continues to shape the sector, alongside plans for a dedicated retirees’ fund. The IRFG will be driven by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) in collaboration with other industry bodies, with objectives including mentorship and legacy transfer, technical advisory support for policy and standards review, welfare and wellness support for retirees, and building a national professional networking platform across the insurance industry. An interim advisory council was inaugurated with Mr. Peter Osei-Duah as chair, alongside other retired practitioners and representatives from the NIC, Ghana Insurance University and the CIIG.
