The National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia has granted its Annual Award for Young Researchers for 2025 to Jasna Tonovska, an assistant and PhD candidate at the Faculty of Economics at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, for her paper “Volatility of international financial flows: implications for the Macedonian economy”. The awarded research argues that heightened volatility in international financial flows creates risks for domestic economic performance, particularly over the medium term, and concludes that macroprudential measures can be an effective tool to mitigate negative effects. It notes that this volatility became more pronounced after 2020 amid increased global uncertainty and rising geopolitical tensions. The central bank held a meeting with the award recipient, Governor Anita Angelovska-Bezhoska and the evaluation committee, and confirmed that the winning paper will be presented at a forthcoming session of the National Bank’s Research Club.
