Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) published an update on its FEBIS and SAKINAH activities at the Lirboyo Islamic boarding school in Kediri, aimed at strengthening the pesantren ecosystem by improving Islamic finance literacy and widening access to sharia-compliant financial services. The initiative was positioned as support for national government priority programmes, including the Free Nutritious Meal programme, and was delivered in collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency and Nahdlatul Ulama. SAKINAH, themed “Santri Sehat, Keuangan Kuat, Masa Depan Hebat”, involved hundreds of students and covered sharia financial products and services, personal financial management, awareness of illegal financial activity, and the role of nutrition in building a productive future. FEBIS involved around 150 participants, including managers of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units, Nahdlatul Ulama-owned enterprises, suppliers in the Free Nutritious Meal supply chain, and pesantren-based businesses, and included presentations by sharia financial services providers and business matching discussions to facilitate access to financing and improve participants’ readiness to meet prudential requirements. The programme also included a ceremonial inauguration of a pesantren Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit facility, a symbolic opening of sharia financial access at the pesantren, and the signing of a plaque for 27 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units.
