The Reserve Bank of India has amended the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) Regulations to revise the conditions for taking, sending, or bringing currency notes between India and Nepal or Bhutan. The amendment replaces Regulation 8 and takes effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. Under the revised rule, persons other than citizens of Pakistan or Bangladesh may take or send out of India to Nepal or Bhutan, and bring into India from Nepal or Bhutan, Government of India and Reserve Bank of India notes, generally excluding denominations above INR 100. Individuals travelling on these routes may carry Indian notes in denominations above INR 100 up to a total limit of INR 25,000 in either direction. The rule also permits the export to, and import from, Nepal or Bhutan of currency notes that are the currency of Nepal or Bhutan.

The Reserve Bank of India has amended the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) Regulations, revising conditions for currency movement between India and Nepal or Bhutan. The amendment allows individuals, excluding citizens of Pakistan or Bangladesh, to carry Indian notes above INR 100 up to INR 25,000. It also permits the export and import of Nepalese and Bhutanese currency notes.
