The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina reported that Governor Jasmina Selimovic participated in a meeting of the SEPA Steering Group, a forum bringing together central bank governors from the Western Balkans and Moldova with representatives of the European Payments Council, the European Central Bank and the World Bank under the leadership of DG NEAR Director General Gert Jan Koopman. The Steering Group is intended to monitor implementation of the SEPA schemes and provide a platform for exchanging experience and cooperating on challenges linked to harmonisation with European regulations and meeting European Payments Council requirements. The meeting reviewed the status of national adaptation to SEPA requirements, identified implementation challenges in payment-system harmonisation, and considered recommendations from the European Payments Council and the European Central Bank to help accelerate accession to SEPA schemes. Key steps banks and other payment service providers need to take to join the SEPA network were also discussed, with participants concluding that coordinated, active support across stakeholders is needed to achieve integration.
