The National Bank of Moldova took part in a practical workshop on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) focused on the challenges, risk and resilience facing financial institutions, with the head of its AML/CFT unit, Gheorghe Badia, stressing the growing importance of compliance requirements. Organised by Crowe Moldova in partnership with AmCham Moldova, the event aimed to promote dialogue between regulators and the financial industry and discussed recent AML/CFT legislative changes in the Republic of Moldova, practical challenges in implementing compliance rules, AML risk assessment and management processes, the role of operational resilience in preventing illicit activity, and the implementation of secondary regulations and their implications. The central bank also reiterated its commitment to ongoing engagement with the business community on meeting regulatory expectations.
