The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) has set out its 2026 Regulatory Plan, outlining the authority’s priority areas for forthcoming rulemaking and studies affecting the insurance and reinsurance sector. Presented by director Carlos Queiroz at an Amcham-RJ webinar, the plan follows an internal governance process, предусматривает broad publication of proposals, and can be adjusted over time. The agenda distinguishes between two levels of priority and is organised across five thematic axes: products, innovation, market conduct, prudential and reinsurance aspects, and relations with the supervisor. Highlighted priorities include studies on catastrophe insurance, operational rules for universal life insurance, and regulation of mutualistic property protection for cargo carriers; review of the Regulatory Sandbox and Open Insurance; development of an Operations Registration System (SRO) for reinsurance and mutualistic property protection operations; institutional support for the Brazil Pact for Integrity to encourage supervised entities to adopt integrity and anti-corruption programmes; and a new sanctioning regime aimed at strengthening SUSEP’s regulatory actions. SUSEP has published the full 2026 Regulatory Plan document, which sets out the proposed normative initiatives and studies under each axis.
