The British Columbia Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) has cancelled real estate licensee Ismail Jamal Jinnah’s licence and imposed the maximum available fine of CAD 10,000 for professional misconduct and conduct unbecoming, after finding he used a close personal relationship to pressure a client into selling her home. BCFSA also ordered Jinnah to pay CAD 67,223.39 in investigative and hearing expenses. The sanctions followed an October 1, 2024 hearing and relate to two connected transactions in which Jinnah was found to have failed to properly disclose the nature of his representation, promptly and fully disclose and avoid conflicts of interest, act in the client’s best interest with honesty and reasonable care and skill, and disclose known material information. The decision also found he provided false and misleading statements during the investigation and mischaracterized his relationship with the client to conceal the conflict of interest; the underlying misconduct occurred in 2015 while he was licensed as a trading representative with RE/MAX Blueprint Realty. Jinnah has not been licensed to provide real estate trading services since March 2024.
