The European Central Bank published its weekly balance sheet data, showing total assets and liabilities of EUR 6,274,268m, down EUR 226m from the previous week due to transactions. On the asset side, lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations rose EUR 1,780m to EUR 25,576m, driven by an increase in main refinancing operations of EUR 1,824m. Securities of euro area residents denominated in euro fell EUR 1,982m to EUR 4,431,109m, reflecting a EUR 4,101m decline in securities held for monetary policy purposes to EUR 4,154,468m alongside a EUR 2,120m rise in other securities. Gold and gold receivables decreased EUR 20m to EUR 872,172m and claims on non-euro area residents denominated in foreign currency fell EUR 201m to EUR 522,078m. On the liabilities side, liabilities to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations increased EUR 16,494m to EUR 3,013,916m, as the deposit facility rose EUR 46,008m to EUR 2,856,021m while current accounts covering the minimum reserve system fell EUR 29,514m to EUR 157,895m; banknotes in circulation declined EUR 616m to EUR 1,567,404m.
