Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published complaint and recovery statistics for the state of Tabasco, reporting 3,464 complaints in 2024, down 0.6% from 2023 and representing 1.4% of national complaints. For January–February 2025, Tabasco recorded 658 complaints. CONDUSEF reported MXN 19.3 million recovered in 2024, down 13.5% from 2023, and MXN 6.9 million recovered in the first two months of 2025. Credit cards, debit cards and special credit reports were the most complained-about products, accounting for 40.1% of Tabasco complaints. The leading causes in 2024 were unrecognised charges, denial of compensation payment and unrecognised electronic transfers (25.8% of complaints), with the same three causes accounting for 19.3% in January–February 2025. By sector, multiple banking concentrated 53.2% of complaints, followed by insurers (20.9%) and credit information societies (12.1%); in multiple banking, the user-favourable resolution rate was 45.2% in 2024 (49.6% in January–February 2025), 31.4% of complaints involved older adults, and 53.8% of multiple-banking complaints were linked to possible fraud, primarily unrecognised purchases and electronic transfers. CONDUSEF also reiterated that its procedures are free of charge and do not require intermediaries, warning users to be alert to anyone requesting money to process claims.
