The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan held talks with an International Finance Corporation (IFC) delegation on further cooperation to strengthen financial-sector regulation and advance Kazakhstan’s capital market development, including the application of international best practices. Discussions covered current and completed IFC-supported technical assistance projects and potential IFC participation in developing a stock market development programme to 2030 and an insurance market development programme to 2030, alongside preparation of new laws on the securities market and on insurance activity. The parties also referenced a 2025 agreement under which IFC is providing advisory support on a draft Law on Investment Funds, intended to provide an additional expert basis for further improvements to collective investment regulation and to support broader work on new securities-market legislation and capital market policy documents. The meeting also considered Kazakhstan’s potential participation in the Joint Capital Markets Program (J-CAP), a World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund initiative supporting capital market development through assistance on market development strategies, legal and regulatory reforms, and market infrastructure. The sides confirmed their interest in strengthening cooperation and implementing joint initiatives.
