The Central Reserve Bank of Peru published updated trade figures showing non-traditional textile exports reached USD 712 million in January to May, up 11.8% from the same period a year earlier. The increase was driven mainly by higher export volumes, which rose 10.4%, alongside a 1.2% increase in export prices. In May, textile exports totalled USD 148 million, a 1.5% year-on-year rise, with volume up 0.3% and prices up 1.2%. The volume gain was attributed primarily to higher shipments of alpaca and llama fibres to China and cotton fabrics to Colombia; apparel shipments to the United States were flat versus May 2024, while shipments to Venezuela, Canada and Italy declined.
