Mozambique's Ministry of Finance said State Secretary for Treasury and Budget Amílcar Tivane, speaking at Banco Letsego's 15th anniversary celebrations, highlighted the bank's contribution to expanding financial inclusion and modernising banking services in the country. In the speech, he pointed in particular to the bank's outreach in rural areas and said wider access to financial services could support savings, increase financing for productive activity and broaden the population's access to banking services. The ministry noted that Banco Letsego opened in 2011 and reached financial break-even in its first year of operations. It currently has 13 branches nationwide, more than 500 sales agents and around 170 permanent employees, mainly young Mozambicans. At the same event, acting chair Kathryn Larcombe said the bank would continue to expand modern, secure and accessible financial services, with a focus on public sector employees, private sector workers, and micro and small enterprises.
