The Central Bank of Bolivia has invalidated, with immediate effect, the BOB 10, BOB 20 and BOB 50 banknotes from Series B of the New Family of Boliviano Banknotes, meaning they no longer have legal tender status and are no longer permitted for use or circulation. Holders who acquired these Series B notes legally may exchange them through the financial system for notes of equal value, under a calendar the central bank said it will announce shortly. The central bank stated it has the identification and numbering of all legally circulating Series B notes in these denominations and that holders will not lose their value. It also warned that the Series B notes that were on the aircraft involved in the El Alto crash are identified and numbered and that any attempt to circulate them or introduce them into the financial system will be subject to legal sanctions. The central bank will launch an immediate public information campaign to help the public identify the affected notes.
