The China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission held an ASEAN and China-Japan-Korea financial regulators seminar in Nanning, Guangxi, bringing together supervisors and industry representatives to exchange views on regional supervisory priorities, sustainable finance, and issues around cross-border financial data flows and privacy protection. The meeting was held alongside the China-ASEAN Expo as a sub-forum of the China-ASEAN Financial Cooperation and Development Forum. More than 20 representatives from financial regulatory authorities across eight jurisdictions attended, including China, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR, with participants describing the seminar as supporting mutual understanding, trust and consensus among regulators and strengthening regulator-industry dialogue. The Commission indicated it will continue to deepen cross-border supervisory cooperation with members of the ASEAN plus China-Japan-Korea (10+3) cooperation mechanism, including supporting the joint development of Chinese and foreign-funded financial institutions and facilitating regional trade and real-economy activity.
