The Central Bank of Syria held a meeting with the governors of Al-Hasakah and Raqqa to review the state of the banking sector in the two governorates and options to re-energise it, including reopening the central bank’s branches in Raqqa and Al-Hasakah. The discussion also covered plans to develop the branches and modernise their infrastructure to align with banking developments, improve service efficiency and performance, and strengthen confidence in the local banking sector. The central bank governor emphasised expanding service coverage and restoring the bank’s role across different areas, with cooperation from local authorities to remove obstacles and speed up implementation, while the two governors indicated they were ready to provide facilitation to support reopening and development.
