The Financial Action Task Force of Latin America (GAFILAT) has published its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, setting out the priorities that will guide its work over the next five years to strengthen national systems to prevent and combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The plan prioritises consolidating existing progress, addressing emerging challenges, and deepening regional and international cooperation. It reinforces a risk-based approach, a focus on the effectiveness of AML/CFT systems, and technical support to member countries in the context of the Fifth Round of Mutual Evaluations, alongside objectives to strengthen member institutions, improve the quality and consistency of evaluations, enhance regional coordination, and promote innovation to address new threats including virtual assets and emerging technologies.
