Moldova's Ministry of Finance published an update on Moldova’s participation in a bilateral screening meeting with EU experts on Chapter 9 Financial services, setting out how national legislation aligns with relevant EU rules and describing the state of implementation across the financial sector. The 3–4 February 2025 hybrid meeting in Brussels brought together the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Moldova, the National Commission for Financial Market, and the Deposit Guarantee Fund for bank deposits. The discussions covered banking, capital markets, digital financial services, insurance, sustainable finance, and voluntary pensions, including implementation approaches, sector-specific challenges and opportunities, and forward plans; the Moldovan delegation included State Secretary Cristina Ixari, who leads the Chapter 9 working group, and Ana Litocenco, head of financial sector regulation and the group’s secretary. The ministry positioned the screening dialogue and ongoing legal analysis under Chapter 9 as part of Moldova’s continuing process of harmonising its financial services framework with EU standards.
