The National Bank of Georgia reported that First Vice-Governor Ekaterine Mikabadze took part in an International Monetary Fund (IMF) workshop for central banks hosted by the IMF’s Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (CCAMTAC) in Vienna, co-hosted with the Joint Vienna Institute. The discussions centred on monetary policy issues, including potential adjustments to policy frameworks in response to recent years’ inflationary pressures. Participants emphasised the growing importance of monetary policy communication and examined the economic implications of heightened uncertainty, the IMF’s Integrated Policy Framework, and other current monetary policy topics. The NBG delegation also included Tamta Sopromadze, Head of the Macroeconomics and Statistics Department, and Mariam Chanturia, Acting Head of the Monetary Policy Division; the event brought together 21 central bank representatives from nine countries, with contributions from experts including the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, the Bank for International Settlements, the European Central Bank, the National Bank of Slovakia, and Sveriges Riksbank.
