Across the industry, self-managed super fund assets increased to AUD 1,017.8 billion (+6.1% year on year), exempt public sector scheme assets to AUD 175.2 billion (+7.0%), and life office statutory fund assets to AUD 57.3 billion (+1.2%). For the year to December 2024, total contributions increased 14.8% to AUD 198.1 billion, comprising employer contributions of AUD 144.0 billion (+10.8%) and member contributions of AUD 54.1 billion (+26.7%); benefit payments rose 12.0% to AUD 124.4 billion, driven by lump sums of AUD 68.2 billion (+7.8%) and pension payments of AUD 56.2 billion (+17.5%). For entities with more than six members, net contribution flows were AUD 68.2 billion (+17.5%) over the year.
