The Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds of Peru issued a public warning after identifying entities and individuals promoting the collection of money from the public in Peru without the regulator’s authorisation. The SBS said the promoters present themselves as investment specialists across multiple business lines, offer to invest funds received from the public and promise high returns, sometimes claiming that a notarised contract and the delivery of a negotiable instrument make the investment risk-free. It warned that interest payments may not be made and that principal may not be returned, and listed the following as not authorised to take funds from the public under any modality: Meta Partners S.A.C. (Meta Inversiones), Crhistian Alonso Villanueva Aguilar (Vanger Haus / Crhiss Vanger), Oscar Capital Inversiones E.I.R.L., Corporación Savio S.A.C., Osma Soluciones Estratégicas E.I.R.L. (Osma Perú), and Yonda & Grupo Huaraca E.I.R.L. (Yonda). The notice also reiterates that prior SBS authorisation is required under Law No. 26702 for any person or entity seeking to receive third-party money as deposits, loans or any other form and place those funds as credit or investment. The SBS encouraged the public to be cautious of promises of high interest and to consult its continuously updated list of identified informal entities and submit reports of suspected unauthorised money-taking.
