The Action Group against Money Laundering in Central Africa organised a regional workshop in Brazzaville from 16 to 20 February 2026 to develop a draft regional text on policies and good practices for the security of networks and information systems used by financial intelligence units and the GABAC Permanent Secretariat. Participants validated a draft regulation and agreed a roadmap for taking it into the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa institutional process. Work covered legal, technical and operational aspects of the IT and digital arrangements needed to protect against cyberattacks and strengthen the resilience of the relevant networks and information systems. A presentation from CENAREF highlighted physical and logical security practices including strict access controls, network segmentation, strengthened authentication, logging, regular backups, and incident management procedures. Next steps comprise internal finalisation of the text, submission to the Financial Action Task Force for observations, and a final reading before the draft is placed into the CEMAC institutional adoption track.
