The National Bank of Serbia issued a denial in response to a Vreme portal article claiming that banks had introduced a limit of exchanging only up to EUR 100, stating that no bank in Serbia has imposed such a restriction. After checking with all commercial banks operating in the country, it reported that there are no limits on euro exchange. The central bank described the article as fabricated and based on misinformation and unnamed, unsubstantiated claims, and also rejected allegations that only a bank’s employees can trade euros through a virtual exchange office. It warned that reports about restrictions on purchasing euros can spread unfounded panic, and noted that it has taken measures to keep bank and authorised exchange office supply channels for euros and other foreign currencies functioning smoothly, including during periods of increased demand.
