The Central Bank of Peru published labour market indicators showing national formal employment increased 4.6% year-on-year in September 2025, extending 18 consecutive months of expansion and implying 276,000 net new formal jobs. Over the same period, the formal wage bill rose 9.1% in real terms versus September 2024. Private-sector formal employment grew 5.9% year-on-year, with agriculture, services and commerce accounting for most of the increase through the creation of 90,000, 75,000 and 31,000 jobs, respectively, based on electronic payroll records sourced from SUNAT. Real private-sector wage bill growth reached 10.2% year-on-year, with services and mining cited as notable contributors; the wage bill is calculated as average income multiplied by the number of formal jobs.
