The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation Hub and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) have launched the sixth edition of the G20 TechSprint, inviting developers worldwide to propose technology solutions that strengthen trust and integrity in scalable and open finance. The competition is structured around three problem statements: verifiable, privacy-preserving digital identity solutions to build trust among financial institutions; consumer-consented credit data portability to improve small and medium-sized enterprise access to finance via secure cross-border credit information sharing; and solutions to mitigate fraud and cyber risks to support wider adoption of fast payment systems. Shortlisted teams will develop their proposals over an eight-week period and present them for feedback from national authorities and invited experts, with an independent panel selecting one winner per problem statement; winners receive USD 30,000 each and shortlisted projects receive a USD 5,000 stipend. Submissions close on 20 June 2025, and the winning solutions are scheduled to be announced by November.
