The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), represented by Market Infrastructure and Conduct Supervision Director Júlia Normande Lins, participated on 8 October in the Pre-COP30 Casa do Seguro event organised by the National Confederation of Insurers (CNseg) in Brasília. Lins spoke on the panel “Insurance as an instrument of social protection”, which discussed how insurance can help reduce socio-economic vulnerability as climate change impacts intensify. The discussion centred on inclusive solutions for low-income populations most affected by extreme weather events such as droughts and floods, and on the role of accessible and innovative insurance products in supporting social resilience through financial protection and stability. The panel also highlighted the importance of effective public policies, cross-sector partnerships and financial education to broaden access; Lins argued that awareness and financial education efforts need to be matched by market willingness to offer inclusive products suited to low-income realities. The sector event was positioned as a lead-in to COP30, scheduled for November in Belém, Pará.
