The European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will hold an exchange of views with Bruna Szego, Chair of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA), focusing on AMLA’s new role as the central authority in the EU anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism framework. The session, scheduled for 2 December from 10:00 to 11:30, is positioned as the first of the regular dialogues foreseen in the AMLA Regulation to structure cooperation between AMLA and the European Parliament. Members are expected to examine AMLA’s priorities, its supervisory and coordinating tasks, and how it will strengthen the EU’s capacity to prevent and combat money laundering and terrorist financing, with the discussion also intended to inform upcoming ECON and LIBE legislative and oversight deliberations on implementation and consistent enforcement of the new framework.
