Moldova's National Commission for Financial Markets ran a series of financial education initiatives as part of Global Money Week 2025, positioning financial literacy as relevant for all age groups and focusing on practical decision-making by consumers. Activities included an interactive online quiz, with 39 participants providing correct answers and entering a prize draw, followed by awards for three winners and recognition of the five most active participants. The Commission also produced a vox populi video on how citizens manage money and their familiarity with financial instruments, and its Chair, Dumitru Budianschi, discussed consumer protection, the Commission’s role in market stability and development, financial education, crowdfunding and voluntary pension funds in a televised interview. In northern Moldova, around 100 students in Bălți attended sessions on managing payment accounts, understanding loans and deposits, and the importance of insurance contracts, while a public financial safety workshop co-hosted with UN Women Moldova reached around 60 participants on users’ rights, choosing credit, savings and insurance products, and steps to take when issues arise with financial institutions.
