The Bank of Italy reported on two conferences held in Paris on 17 and 18 November focused on equity, diversity and inclusion in central banking. The events were hosted by the Bank of France and jointly organised with the Bank of Canada, the Bank of England, the Bank of Spain and the European Central Bank. The 17 November conference, “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Economics, Finance, and Central Banking”, targeted the academic community and closed with a policy panel featuring Bank of Italy Deputy Governor Chiara Scotti; papers covered the macroeconomic effects of changing gender roles, access to credit for women-led businesses, the gender gap, and women’s participation in the economy. The 18 November HR conference, “Why Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Matters to Central Banks”, was aimed at HR professionals from the public and private sectors and concluded with a speech by Bank of Italy Secretary General Massimo Doria.
