The Central Bank of Chile announced it will open, together with the Financial Market Commission (CMF), a dialogue event titled “A century of banking regulation and future challenges for the financial market”, marking 100 years since the establishment of banking regulation and supervision in Chile. The session on 27 November will begin with remarks by Central Bank of Chile Governor Rosanna Costa and CMF Chair Solange Berstein. Held at the “Patio Inglés” of the Central Bank’s Instituto Emisor, the event will review the history of both institutions created in 1925, including the former Superintendency of Banks and Financial Institutions, now integrated into the CMF, and will discuss forward-looking challenges. A panel moderated by Rosario Celedón, councillor at the Autonomous Pension Protection Fund (FAPP), will feature Rodrigo Valdés (International Monetary Fund), Kevin Cowan (Adolfo Ibáñez University) and José Manuel Mena (Association of Banks and Financial Institutions, ABIF), and will be livestreamed on the Central Bank of Chile and CMF YouTube channels at 15:00.
