The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation announced a set of senior leadership appointments, naming Benjamin Olson as Director of the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection, Shawn Khani as Director of the Division of Resolutions and Receiverships, Trey Maust as Chief Innovation Officer, and Sam Lupas as Deputy Chief of Staff advising the Chairman and Chief of Staff. Olson joins from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, where he served as Deputy Director for Consumer Supervision and Regulation, and brings prior experience spanning Capital One, private practice and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Khani steps into the role after serving as Acting Director and Senior Deputy Director in the resolutions and receiverships function, overseeing strategic resolution readiness planning, including franchise and asset marketing and receivership management. Maust will guide the FDIC’s work to promote adoption of innovative technologies within the agency and across the financial services sector, following recent leadership roles at Lewis & Clark Bank and affiliated entities. Lupas joins from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he supported policy development and internal operations for the Federal Housing Administration’s USD 2 trillion mortgage insurance portfolio, and has prior experience in the US Senate and the US House Committee on Financial Services.
