Argentina’s Superintendency of Insurance has issued a resolution updating sums insured, coverage limits and mandatory deductibles for motor vehicle third-party liability insurance covering motor vehicles, trailers and vehicles used for public passenger transport. The revised parameters apply to policies issued and/or renewed from 1 January 2026 and are calibrated using changes in the Argentine Federation of Professional Councils of Economic Sciences rate (FACPCE) as an objective indicator to preserve the real value of the sums insured. Key changes include autonomous legal obligation amounts of ARS 910,000 per person for medical expenses and ARS 533,000 per person for funeral expenses. The public passenger transport civil liability limit is set at ARS 676,000,000, while the compulsory civil liability limit is ARS 20,800,000. For voluntary motor civil liability insurance, maximum limits include ARS 208,000,000 for cars and pickups (including towed vehicles), rental cars without a driver, motorcycles and motorised bicycles, and motorhomes; ARS 455,000,000 for taxis and remises, certain commercial and special vehicles (including trucks and trailers), emergency services, security forces and category M1 vehicles, as well as vehicles providing services via a technology platform; and ARS 676,000,000 for vehicles defined as M2 and M3. Mandatory deductibles are ARS 3,380,000 for public passenger transport vehicles and ARS 494,000 for taxis and remises.
