The European Central Bank has published the disaggregated financial statement of the Eurosystem for 3 April 2026, setting out the consolidated balance sheet and the positions of each national central bank, the ECB and consolidation adjustments. The statement shows total assets and liabilities of EUR 6,253,432 million. On the asset side, the largest items were securities of euro area residents denominated in euro at EUR 3,928,753 million, including EUR 3,591,431 million held for monetary policy purposes, and gold and gold receivables at EUR 1,392,650 million. Other reported asset categories included claims on non-euro area residents denominated in foreign currency of EUR 516,501 million and lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations of EUR 22,574 million. On the liability side, the main items were liabilities to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations of EUR 2,504,954 million, of which EUR 2,329,445 million was in the deposit facility and EUR 175,509 million in current accounts covering the minimum reserve system, and banknotes in circulation of EUR 1,618,975 million. The accompanying note states that the capital and reserves line may show negative amounts for individual national central banks because it includes accumulated losses carried forward.
