Brunei Darussalam's Ministry of Finance and Economy published an update on a high-level mission to London and Aberdeen from 19 to 23 January 2026 under the Brunei Darussalam–United Kingdom Strategic Dialogue, aimed at progressing practical cooperation under the Brunei Green Economy Framework (BGEF) and related green economy and energy transition priorities. The programme combined policy and stakeholder engagements on areas including policy coordination, investment readiness, transition finance and private sector participation, alongside discussions on the Government of Brunei Darussalam’s green economy measures such as scaling solar deployment, improving energy efficiency, enabling higher-value use of gas, and developing nature-based climate solutions including REDD+ linked to forests and mangroves. London meetings covered regional and ASEAN cooperation including the ASEAN Power Grid, academic collaboration with Imperial College London’s Grantham Research Institute and potential linkages with the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, as well as engagements with UK government counterparts, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the United Kingdom Trade Envoy; the Aberdeen visit focused on energy transition, offshore and industrial decarbonisation and the responsible decommissioning of oil and gas assets. The ministry said outcomes will feed into ongoing work to operationalise elements of the UK–Brunei Green Economy Framework, strengthen institutional and manpower capabilities, and enhance market and investment readiness, with further press releases to follow on subsequent engagements and outcomes.
